Lebanon: Prime Minister Mikati Denounces Israel’s Disinterest to Reach a Truce

Lebanon’s Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, denounced on Friday that the Israeli bombing of the southern suburbs of Beirut known as the Dahye, which has so far left two dead, shows that Israel “does not care about international efforts” to reach a truce.

“The new aggression shows that the Israeli enemy does not care about all international efforts and calls for a ceasefire,” Mikati said from New York, according to a statement released by his office on his official X account.
The Lebanese, who in recent days has held several meetings with authorities of various Western and Middle Eastern countries on the margins of the UN General Assembly, said that this situation requires the international community “dissuaded” Israel to “stop its tyranny and the genocidal war it is launching against Lebanon”.
According to the note, Mikati contacted the Lebanese Army commander, Joseph Aoun, “to obtain available information on this aggression” and the coordinator of the Lebanon National Emergency Plan, Nasser Yassin, to ask you to mobilize all teams in order to increase the number of victims considerably.ç
So far, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health has reported two deaths and 76 injuries as a result of Israeli bombing on Friday against the southern suburbs of Beirut known as the Dahye and in the Haret Hreik neighborhood.
According to the breakdown of these data, which is the “initial balance” of victims, 61 people suffered “minor injuries” and 15 others require hospitalization.
The department also indicated that work on the removal of rubble is still ongoing and that the death toll is expected to “increase in the next few hours”.
